Red Right Hand

Two types of action movies that eat on VOD. The old man who has to do Green Beret shit at age 70. And the guy in his late 40's who is dragged back into his old life. Plenty of actors have dipped their toes in this section, some are bathing in it. This isn't a bad thing, but the stories in these movies kind of mirror each other. Same tropes, same characters, same locations, same action scenes, same climax, and same-same. This is where your main star comes in. Can he carry the movie? Can he put in a charismatic performance or will he be the most badass version of himself? This movie is saved by its villain. Andie MacDowell saved this movie. That's a lie, the movie ain't that great. ...Orlando was cool...

Orlando Bloom plays Cash, a proud Appalachian man. Yes, Orlando Bloom has a country accent. Meh. 6/10. Anyway, Cash is living a peaceful quiet life doing country shit. He lives with his brother and niece, and his brother is a drunk. Well, brother crosses the local gang. The local gang is your standard movie gang, a tightly organized drug gang in the hills of Kentucky. The gang leader, Big Cat wants Cash to come back to the gang he used to be a part of. Cash sees how his home life is in danger, so he reluctantly asks to see Big Cat. Big Cat played by Andie MacDowell, turns a meh action movie into a meh action movie. Yup, it's one of those movies where one actor is EATING but it's not making the movie better.

What sucks about these movies is usually the story. It's always a scruffy-looking guy who's overly humble and peaceful. In the first fight, we see him in, he power washes some goons and word gets out. Goons come back and one of them is "accidentally" killed or something of value is lost. This forces the old boss to make our hero join them to pay off a debt. The debt is repaid but the boss refuses to let our hero go. The hero rips through the gang John Wick style. The boss is killed, and peace falls over the land. Credits. Westerns and 90's action movies kinda of made this a thing.

Yes, there are variables in that equation but the ending is the same. Big Cat has a son who's a local politician. Seen it. Okay, well Cash works with a local black cop to take down the gang, but the cop is murdered before he can help. Seen it! Okay, well Big Cat interrupted mid-coitus when Cash attacked her compound. Seen it! Well, Cash almost dies! SEEN IT! Well, Cash joins forces with the local pastor who has a shady past of his own and they go in and attack Big Cat's compound. SEEN'T IT!

This movie wasn't that great at all. Andie is the best thing about this movie but it's not saving none of this flick. The action kinda of well done, and there at two kills that are pretty ambitious. As a whole, you can skip it.
